An important aspect of the training of National Police officers is to ensure the unity of professional and personal development. Therefore, the problem of professional development of personality is one of the most important and complex problems of psychology. Traditionally, it is considered from the point of view of two approaches. From the standpoint of the first, the activity approach, the personality of a professional is considered in the context of compliance (non-compliance) with the requirements of the activity. Professional activity develops not only the two necessary skills and abilities, not only affects the peculiarity of mental processes, but also forms the person as a whole, his/her professional qualities, professional behavior. From the standpoint of the second self-development oriented personal approach to self-actualization, in increasing the degree of individual freedom in professional self-determination, in the formation of an individual style of activity, in expanding their capabilities and areas of application. Nowadays, the police have to act more often in complex, extreme conditions related to the need for accelerated decision-making, the detention of offenders and criminals, the preservation of people's lives and their own lives. The need to overcome dangerous situations, to eliminate the obstacles appeared on the way of an officer of the Internal Affairs Bodies, cause him/her various emotional reactions, it also requires constant volitional tension and active mental activity. In conditions of active confrontation, there is a need for a constant complex intellectual work, encryption of their goals, masking the real social roles. The problem of psychological support for the activities of police officers in extreme conditions has recently played an important role among other tasks of ensuring the professional activity of the Internal Affairs Bodies. Particular attention is needed to the cases involving the seizure of hostages; the kidnapping (in particular children), theft of masterpieces in order to obtain a ransom; threats of armed assaults, murders, explosions, arson, mass poisoning, active counteraction of criminals to detention measures, etc. Formation and development of these qualities is a long and tense process. The insufficient development of these personality traits prevents them from performing their functional duties normally, causing errors in their activities, causing processes of professional maladaptation and professional deformation. In this regard, the professional-psychological training of a future specialist is of great importance. Legal regulation of the activities of police officers is one of the most specific features of professional activity. Activities of internal affairs officers are strictly regulated by legal norms (legislative acts, normative documents). Failure to perform or improper performance of the law enforcement officer's duties is always a violation of one or another law. All this ultimately gives rise to increased responsibility of a specialist for his decisions in professional activities.
